Carrie’s passion for dogs started early in her life. As a child, she often brought stray dogs home and played with them. At around 25, she adopted her first rescue dog, Buddy, a black Lab/Shepherd mix. Despite his challenging and destructive behavior, including a stubborn refusal to be housebroken, Carrie was committed to training him. She enrolled him in an obedience class where, with consistent practice, Buddy excelled and ranked first. This achievement thrilled Carrie.
However, tragedy struck when Buddy was just 10 months old. Having been trained with treats, he expected one every time he obeyed. One fateful day, he ran into the street, and when Carrie called him back, he hesitated, looking to her hands for a treat. When he didn’t see any, he continued running and was tragically hit and killed by a car. This heart-wrenching incident was a turning point for Carrie. Determined to ensure that no other dog faced a similar fate due to treat training, she delved deep into dog training, exploring every possible avenue to master the skill and learned to train dogs in her 20’s and left Corporate America.
